Carla McDonald founded Dynabrand Ventures in 2017 after spending 25 years as a marketing strategist. Prior to focusing on investing, Carla had her own marketing firm for 15 years and advised a range of businesses, including the portfolio companies of L Catterton, the leading consumer-focused private equity firm. She also led the consumer marketing practices at Hill & Knowlton and GCI (acquired by WPP), two of the world’s largest public relations firms. During her marketing career, Carla has advised companies ranging from startups, like Nantucket Nectars (acquired by Cadbury Schweppes), Sweet Leaf Tea (acquired by Nestlé), and Deep Eddy Vodka (acquired by Heaven Hill), to multi-billion-dollar corporations, including Procter & Gamble, Pfizer, L’Oréal, and Intel. She has also worked on the founder side, serving as Chief Marketing Officer of a venture-backed startup acquired by Omnicom Group. In addition to being passionate about positioning brands for category leadership, Carla is dedicated to advancing women entrepreneurs. She serves as chair of the Mayor’s Task Force for Austin Women Entrepreneurs, volunteers as a mentor at SKU, the country’s leading consumer packaged goods accelerator, and is a founding investor in Capital Factory, the nationally known startup accelerator and entrepreneurial hub.
